This October 4 – 5 UGA Griffin Campus and Henry County Master Gardeners hosted the GMGA Annual Conference 2024 in Griffin, GA and I got the opportunity to attend the conference as the County Master Gardener Program Coordinator. Henry County Master Gardeners did a remarkable job of hosting the conference and taking care of all the conference participants. The theme of the conference was “Think Globally, Grow Locally”. This year’s conference also celebrated the 45th anniversary of the Georgia Master Gardener Program. The conference was a wonderful learning and networking event offered with several tours, featured speakers, vendors, silent auction, poster sessions and breakout sessions. Several celebrated speakers shared their experience and lessons on gardening, landscape design, vermicomposting, native plants and pollinators, urban horticulture, etc. During the conference, I presented a poster highlighting the incredible success story of SOWEGA Master Gardeners resurrecting an abandoned local garden into a certified native plants and pollinator habitat garden. It was a wonderful experience to tell this passionate story of perseverance, teamwork and community involvement. Please check out the poster I presented in the conference:
